Things are moving around in the Children's Room!

It seems like spring might really be here to stay, and a few collections have moved in the Children's Room.  Slim Fiction and Caldecott Award winner books are now located on the same wall as Biographies and Folk and Fairytales.

Series books are along the back wall by the windows and are being reorganized into some snazzy new containers.

New books are outgrowing their space quickly!  They are still by the round tables, but also on top of the picture book stacks.  Please come and check out a few, or a dozen!

Do you know what a fractal is?  According to Wikipedia a fractal is " a mathematical set that typically displays self-similar patterns".  This book, Mysterious Patterns is a wonderful and simple introduction to what a fractal is and how you can spot them in nature, along with some really cool photographs of fractals!  Find it in the New Non-Fiction section of the Children's Room.

Yeeee-haw!  Two fun new cowgirl books!

Little Red Hot by Eric Kimmel is a re-telling of the story of Little Red Riding hood set in the wild, wild west.  Instead of a red hood, Little Red Hot wears a red cowgirl hat and has a love of chili peppers.  She goes off to visit her grandma with a spicy hot pepper pie she baked herself.

Every Cowgirl Goes to School, by Rebecca Janni is a sweet story of a young cowgirl named Nellie Sue on the first day of school and her adventures and misadventures with show and tell and new friends.  Nellie Sue has been in a few other stories by Rebecca Janni, such as Every Cowgirl Needs Dancing Boots, Every Cowgirl Needs a Horse, and Every Cowgirl Loves a Rodeo.

Let it Snow!!!!

Looking for some fun wintery books?  Winter is for Snow, by Robert Neubecker is about a brother who loves snow and winter activities, and a sister who does not.  Can her brother change her mind and show her winter can actually be fun?  Dusk by Uri Shulevitz is the story of a boy and his grandfather going for a walk in winter as the sun begins to set.  The grandfather shows the boy that just because the sun is sinking there is beauty to be found in dusk.  Snowflakes Fall, by Patricia McLachlan and illustrated by Steven Kellogg is a beautiful poem about the uniqueness of snowflakes with beautiful illustrations of winter scenes.
