Toto the Tornado Kitten

Earlier this month, Toto the tornado kitten visited the library! Toto was found after the tornado that hit Central MA a few years ago and was adopted by Jonathan Hall. The children got to meet and pet Toto, listen to his story, and ask questions about him!

The musical stylings of Steve Blunt delighted children and their families alike this past Thursday, November 20th in the Sutton Room

Wendy Manninen,Vicki Marsh and special guests the Optimistic Voices Seniors Choir led children and families in a wonderful and fun Singing and Signing program on November 19th in the Sutton Room!

Disney Craft Camp: Week 3

For the third week of Disney Craft Camp, the kids made Monsters Inc. inspired ornaments of Mike Wazowski. Make your very own with plastic ornaments and acrylic glue from your nearest craft store!

Summer Reading Bruins Event

Disney Craft Camp: Week 1

For the first week of Disney Craft Camp, the kids made Frozen themed slime with Ms. Morgan. They had a blast mixing the messy ingredients with glitter to make sparkly goo!

Paleontologist, Bob, visited the library and talked about the different kinds of dinosaurs, what they ate, the geologic periods in which they lived, and much more!

You "Otter" read this book!

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to have a pet otter, this book will show you what it's like to witness a mischievous otter's adventures such as opening a toast restaurant with his best friend Teddy.  It's very funny and silly with cute illustrations, though I may rethink wanting a pet otter of my own!

Ms. Linda's new children's books!

This week Ms. Linda made a visit to a few of the elementary schools in Peabody and showed students these great, new books. Come to the library and check them out for grades K-5!

We have 18 new Audiobooks that arrived this month. Audiobooks are a great way to listen to your favorite books on the go and at home!

Ducky Bots come to the Peabody Institute Library! 

Thursday, May 28th from 3:30 to 5:00 pm!

The Peabody Institute Library Creativity Lab is pleased to announce “DuckyBots”, an event that will invite kids of all ages to think like an engineer. It challenges participants to make a rubber duck swim using only a few simple electronic parts.  No registration is required in advance, just drop in! The event will be held, rain or shine, in the courtyard of the Main Library, at 82 Main St. in Peabody.  

Bilingual Story Time in Portuguese and English on May 6th!  Kids joined Ms. Katia for stories in both languages and made cool dinosaur crafts!  We'll be hosting another Bilingual Story Time on June 3rd at 4:30, for more info or to sign up click here!

Things are moving around in the Children's Room!

It seems like spring might really be here to stay, and a few collections have moved in the Children's Room.  Slim Fiction and Caldecott Award winner books are now located on the same wall as Biographies and Folk and Fairytales.

Series books are along the back wall by the windows and are being reorganized into some snazzy new containers.

New books are outgrowing their space quickly!  They are still by the round tables, but also on top of the picture book stacks.  Please come and check out a few, or a dozen!
