Music, Movement, and More with MaryBeth Maes!


MaryBeth Maes brought lots of holiday energy to the Sutton Room this week! The kids shook their bells as they sang along to "Jingle Bells" and "I Have a Little Dreidel".

For children ages 2 and up and their familes. Come join MaryBeth Maes, a singer/songwriter from the North Shore for a PreK show with Music, Movement, and More! Keeping it upbeat, silly and fun, all while learning, moving and singing. Old favorites, originals and fun with all different kinds of instruments.

Latin Drumming Workshop for Kids!!

For kids ages 6 and up.  Please sign up as class size is limited to 8 kids.
 
Join Greg Coles and learn some basics of Latin Drumming on a conga drum.  Greg teaches Latin Dance, African Dance and Drumming around the North Shore area and is a ton of fun to learn from!  Come make some noise and have some fun!

Sea Slugs and Manatees and Jellyfish and Squids!!!  Oh My!!!








Who would have thought sea slugs are actually quite pretty?  We have gotten lots of new non-fiction easy reader books in our Bullfrog collection!  Lots of new books on animals of all kinds, seasons, and holidays!  These books all have vibrant color photographs and simple text for beginning readers. Singing and Signing

On Wednesday, October 14th from 4-5pm at the Main Library, experienced educators Wendy Manninen and Vicki Marsh present their inter-generational, multi-sensory program Singing & Signing. Wendy and Vicki engage their audience with classic sing-a-long songs while using sign language. Come meet Toto the Tornado Kitten! This adorable cat was found as a kitten after the tornado that hit Brimfield, MA a few years ago. He was adopted by a very nice man named Jonathan who wrote a book about Toto's amazing story and brings Toto to visit schools and libraries and share his story! Jonathan will read his book and answer questions from kids. Most importantly there will be the opportunity to meet this amazing kitty! Great job summer readers!!  So far 318 kids have registered online and have read over 85,000 minutes combined!  Just remember if you're still working towards your goal of 400 minutes to keep reading and logging your time, the deadline to log minutes for the Topsfield Fair Prize package is Monday, August 10th!

Shakespeare's A Comedy of Errors

On Wednesday, June 3, 2015, young actors and actresses in grades 4-12 from performed Shakespeare's A Comedy of Errors for family audiences at East End Veterans' Memorial Park in Peabody.  These young actors and actresses participate in an education program at Stoneham Theatre where they develop confidence and self-discipline to help prepare themselves for a successful future.  Family and friends of the performers, in addition to several library patrons and other Peabody locals, raved about their incredible performance on the park's stage!

Music and Movement Concert with Steve Blunt

Steve Blunt will be visiting the Peabody Institute Library on Tuesday, May 5th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Steve Blunt is a New Hampshire singer/storyteller with over 20 years’ experience in the arts and education. 2 more weeks of Zumba added!

Due to the library being closed due to snow in February on dates the zumba class was running, we added 2 additional classes in March on the 9th and 16th.  There is still room to sign up for any kids interested in coming to zumba, whether they are beginners or experienced.  Click here to sign up!
